Jean-Paul received his Bachelor of Arts in International Business Administration from the American University of Paris and his Master of Architecture (MArch) from New Jersey Institute of Technology. He joined his family practice The Cassia Group in 1998 and has since worked on prestigious assignments for heads of state, high net worth individuals, major corporations and collaborated with leading designers, developers and operators in the luxury hospitality and real estate industries.
His hands-on approach to all phases of iconic hotels and commercial / mixeduse developments is further reinforced with Jean-Paul’s extensive experience in the management of lead consultancy agreements. His experience on such projects as the Citystars Intercontinental Heliopolis Cairo, the Shangri-La Hotel Dubai (200m), the Yachting Club Towers Bahrain (385m) , the W Hotel Abu Dhabi, the Dubai Creekline, the Point @ Seef Bahrain, Domino Towers Jeddah (485m), including advisory work on a major site in Santa Barbara, to name a few, is underscored by Jean-Paul’s ability of transforming Client core values into unique and contemporary architectural expressions. Described as a “thought leader”, Jean-Paul’s designs have been published and were the recipient of numerous coveted awards.
Ongoing projects include the global branded design launches for luxury brands LANVIN, MUGLER, OLIVIER LAPIDUS, CERRUTI, ORA ITO, Sarah LAVOINE, film icons Isabelle ADJANI, Sarah RAFFERTY (Suits) and Ngo Thanh VAN (Vietnam), celebrity DJ DAVID GUETTA, phtographer STEFANIE RENOMA, artist MR. BRAINWASH (Life is Beautiful), as well as Philippe STARCK’s yoo teams; all of which see in +Cassia a unique and bespoke design vehicle through which their brand footprints and entry into real estate is handled from the DNA-out. Several projects are on the drawing boards in Vietnam, Macao, Thailand, Dubai and California. Along with his own designs, Jean-Paul has had the pleasure of collaborating with starchitects Pei Partnership, Michael Graves, Cesar Pelli, Kohn Pederson Fox, and celebrities Isabelle Adjani, Sarah Raferty, Manfred Thierry Mugler, Nino Cerruti, Olivier Lapidus, Anouska Hempel and with Philippe Starck’s yoo teams.
In response to the challenges faced in 2008, Jean-Paul took the bold step to move beyond his practice’s established model and began assembling rich content and brands around his practice. Along with his experience in traditional consulting, Jean-Paul proposed a combionation of design excellence, project ideation as well as codesigners, celebrities, branding and marketing that combines to create unique projects with added value over the competition. While he late father and founder of Cassia was preoccupied with “creating buildings”, Jean-Paul evolved the model into “building stories” that resonate with the experience-driven industries that drive cutting edge real estate today. It is not only the lines we draw that matter, or the engineering that follows, but the stories they share and the memories they create which make places special.
The rebranding to “+Cassia” embodies the holistic evolution of his practice. As of 2018, Jean-Paul’s practice and its creative directors and brand partners also include strategic associates and partners from the US, Europe, MENA and Asia, which extend market reach around the world.
