Business Journalist, Arabian Radio Network
Richard is one of the region’s most engaging business speakers, drawing on two decades experience as a journalist with the world’s leading media outlets. Today he’s best known as presenter of The Business Breakfast, a daily radio show on Dubai Eye 103.8.
Richard has been one of the pioneers of business journalism in the Gulf. After training as a reporter in his native UK, he moved to Dubai in 1998 with Gulf Business magazine. He covered the Middle East from London for The Economist before returning to Dubai in 2004 to help Reuters launch its business news coverage in the Gulf.
At the same time, he helped launch the region’s first English-language news radio station, Dubai Eye. Following two years in London anchoring Bloomberg’s flagship UK radio show, Richard returned to Dubai in 2008 to work on a range of media projects. Richard’s first book was published by Motivate in May 2010: Sink or Swim covers the boom and bust of Dubai’s real estate-fuelled economy.
Richard’s media career has made him a sought-after public speaker, as keynote, MC/Moderator and awards host. A veteran of hundreds of high-profile events, he’s shared a stage with business and political leaders including HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Sir Richard Branson, Tony Blair and Sir David Frost.
Richard is known affectionately as ‘The Three Degrees’ for his academic certificates in history, economics and media. He’s a bad golfer and worse triathlete but enjoys both. He lives in Dubai with his wife and two sons.
