Global CEO, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
Sean is Global CEO of RICS and responsible for the direction and performance of the organisation which now has offices in over 30 offices around the world. Sean supports the Governing Body of the profession in evolving its strategic priorities and goals and is accountable to the Management Board for delivering the expected performance set out in the organisation’s 3 year Business Plan.
As CEO, Sean leads the achievement of our vision which aims to ensure that our professional credentials and standards continue to create trust & confidence in markets and that RICS is known for effecting positive change in the built & natural environments. Sean recognises that in an era marked by a rising global population, rapid urbanisation coupled with increasing resource scarcity, leaders in the built & natural environment are challenged to create new solutions that will benefit our future generations. RICS, through its World Built Environment Forum & Summit seeks to convene leading thinkers to help shape the future of the world we live, work and play in. Sean also recognises that for the Built & Natural Environment to deliver what is needed, it will need to attract and retain an increasingly diverse next generation of talent. As a result, he places a high priority on encouraging greater industry diversity and inclusiveness.
Prior to joining RICS, Sean was a Director of the financial services company, Prudential, where he was responsible for retail and corporate marketing and distribution.
Sean holds non-executive directorships with the Institute of Internal Auditors and Broadland St Benedicts, the development arm of a leading housing association. He has been awarded honorary doctorates by both Heriot-Watt and Amity University. He has accompanied UK Prime Ministers on trade missions and has addressed political leaders at the United Nations on the responsibility the Built Environment has to further its Sustainable Development Goals.
